KEAN UNIVERSITY SUMMER CAMPS 2012
Kean University Summer Camps 2012 program has something for everyone ages 6 through adult. University departments and community organizations are offering a variety of camp sessions during July and August.
An eclectic course schedule provides options in theatre, music, dance, football, volleyball, field hockey, literature, creative writing, mathematics, science, history and creative design. This exceptional line up is offered in collaborations with Premiere Stages, Liberty Hall Museum, Kean University Athletics, The College of Visual and Performing Arts / Robert Busch School of Design at Kean, American String Teachers Association, Carolyn Dorfman Dance Company, Eldridge Overton School of Excellence, working professionals and teaching artists in all these fields. Camp sessions are one or two weeks in duration and campus housing is offered for some areas of study.
The following are the programs offered during Kean University’s 2012 Summer Camps:
Premiere Stages: “Let’s Put on a Show” (July 16 – 27). Students learn the elements of acting and play development through innovative exercises that help translate their creative ideas into original performances. “Taking the Stage” (July 23 – August 3). ASTA (American String Teachers Association): (July 29 – August 11) All levels of student chamber music players work with top performers and instructors to develop their performance skills. Master classes, instrumental workshops, free elective courses, and presentations by leading string educators and performing artists comprise this exceptional camp. Carolyn Dorfman Dance Company: (Aug 13 – 17) For teens through adults, beginners through advanced. A dance lover’s dream: daily master classes in modern dance technique,CDDC repertory, choreography, ethnic dance styles, and more! Learn from leading artists in the New York metro area and around the globe.

NJ AIM High Academy: (July 2 – 23). “Project Adelante” encourages 6th-12th grade Hispanic students to graduate and continue their education. Math, science, English as a Second Language, and technology classes are offered with mentoring, tutoring, college admission and financial aid workshops. AETS (American Education and Travel Services): (July 23 to August 12). For ages 13 – 18. AETS provides a packaged residential program of ESL classes, activities and excursions to international high school students on 7 campuses throughout the US. Offense-Defense Football Camps: (July 8- 11) run the best full-contact youth camps and high school camps in the country, with elite football instruction from NFL Pros and College Coaches. Training for Defensive Line, Linebacker, and Defensive Back, as well as offensive training for Quarterback, Offensive Line, Running Back, Wide Receiver, and Tight End. History Camp: (July 19 – 13 and Aug 27 – 31). In a week-long visit to Liberty Hall, children become time travelers and experience the 225 year history of this renowned museum. Junior tour guides share historical crafts, activities and games with new visitors to the museum. At the end of the week, children host their parents at an exhibition and tea party.
